It is never a pleasant experience to receive an unexpectedly high bill
When you use more data than the maximum amount declared in your cell phone plan, you will be charged a fee for the extra data. The amount charged will vary from service provider to service provider and will typically be identified on your bill as a data overage charge. These can add up quickly and can be expensive. But what can lead to extensive data usage?
Mileage Tracker Apps
The apps that use the most data typically are the apps that you use the most. Like Facebook, Instagram, Netflix, Snapchat, Spotify, Twitter, and YouTube.
If you’re driving a car and need to log your mileage, it’s more than likely that you’ve encountered the phenomenon of mileage log software and apps operating on GPS technology. GPS-based mileage trackers are eating phone battery life and consume data like they are a bottomless pit. And there is a high chance that your cell phone provider will overcharge you at the end of the month, without you even knowing that you are over your limit.
If higher-than-expected charges become a recurring issue, you could try changing your plan to one with better construction, e.g. change to one with fewer minutes but more data in it. Ask whether this is possible. In case you’re bound by the provisions of your agreement, they probably won’t let you change your subscription, however, it’s always worth asking.
A few providers will let you ‘cap’ your plan. So instead of spending more than you need, your phone network provider will stop the data until the end of the month. In case you’re charged for anything well beyond this topped sum, you can decline to pay, as it could be viewed as a breach of the agreement.
Make sure to use a mileage tracker app that saves your data
The MileageWise web dashboard and mileage tracker app only use your data when you arrive at your destination, recommending the parameters with which the trip should be saved and automatically creates the driven distance and route after the trip ended.
You can choose from two types of automatic trip tracking modes. The Car Bluetooth and the Phone charge monitoring function allow you to track your trips without the touch of a button! Both functions use GPS positioning and data for recording only when you arrive at your client, so your phone’s battery and data are used the minimum amount possible.
